The Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) and the Indiana Volkswagen Environmental Mitigation Trust Fund Committee (Committee) on March 23 formally announced Round 3 of the Indiana Volkswagen Environmental Mitigation Trust Program’s grant funding, which will distribute awards ranging from $50,000 to $2,000,000. Total available funding for this round is $12,000,000.

Grant money will be awarded to clean air projects that significantly reduce diesel emissions across Indiana. Examples of projects funded in previous rounds include replacing diesel school buses with electric and propane buses, diesel transit buses with electric transit buses, diesel refuse haulers with compressed natural gas refuse haulers, as well as a diesel switcher locomotive being replaced with an electric rail car mover.

Request for Proposals are due on or before June 1, 2021.
