Ozinga Energy

Thank you Ozinga Energy for sponsoring our 2017 Clean Air Golf Outing.

In recent years, Ozinga Energy grew from supplying compressed natural gas (CNG) to its ready mix operation to being viewed as an expert in the alternative fuels industry, which is solidified by their expanding service offerings throughout the Midwest. In Indiana alone, the company built partnerships with many organizations and municipalities, allowing these groups to break into the world of CNG or to enhance their overall cost savings through on-site stations.
Ozinga is partnering with the City of Hobart to build a slow-fill fuel station and repower two existing diesel trucks with new CNG engines. Hobart currently has three compressed natural gas vehicles the city was driving to Ozinga’s CNG station in Hammond to fuel. Realizing the added cost savings of having a station on site, Hobart decided to build their own fueling station, which will not only fuel their current fleet, but will also serve other vehicles as the city decides to grow its operation.
In 2017, Ozinga earned a maintenance contract with Johnson Melloh, Inc., a full-service facilities solutions company. This contract includes serving two of the company’s stations in Indianapolis, which provides them a significant cost-savings and the peace of mind knowing professional assistance can be received the same day.
Prior to 2017, Ozinga built a small fueling station for the Michigan City Sanitary District. As a CNG leader in Northern Indiana, Michigan City Sanitary District needed a station that could complement its reputation. Although the municipality already had an existing station, it was in need of upgrades and expansions. Ozinga won the bid to update and expand the station and the Sanitary District is now capable of fueling its fleet of pickups and Class 8 garbage trucks.
Although Ozinga Energy is now helping other companies and municipalities find success with CNG, the company is still responsible for building and maintaining stations for the company’s ready mix operation. Ozinga Energy is in the process of building a new CNG slow-fill and fast-fill station at their ready mix plant in Gary. This will give Ozinga another Indiana-based location to fuel their own fleet, as well as provide a public CNG station for those compressed natural gas-powered vehicles in the area.
